After you create a business account, you'll set up your brand through Brand Control Centre's (BCC) onboarding process. This guide walks through creating your brand and completing each onboarding step — including using Octo to auto-generate brand assets, categories, and guidelines.
Step 1: Brand Creation and Agreement
Create a brand
- Click Create a Brand.
- Enter your brand name.
- Enter a username. A preferred URL is generated automatically based on your brand name.
- Optionally, add a phone number. This field isn't required — you can continue without it.
- Click Continue.
Your brand is created with the preferred URL you accepted, and you're redirected to the brand's onboarding page.
Accept terms and conditions
- Review the terms and conditions.
- Enter your address.
- Click Accept.
Once accepted, your brand is generated and you land on the onboarding page, where you'll complete each section step by step.
Step 2: Utilizing Octo for Asset Extraction
Set up brand assets
There are two ways to populate your brand assets:
- Manual entry — Enter your URL directly. BCC will attempt to extract metadata from the site automatically, but you may need to fill in some fields yourself if the site doesn't expose everything.
- Octo — Enter your URL and ask Octo to help create your brand assets, categories, and guidelines. Octo extracts data from your link and generates most of the details for you.
Use Octo to generate brand assets
- Enter your URL and ask Octo to help create your brand assets (for example, "help me create brand assets for this URL").
- Octo fetches data from your site and generates: Brand profile, logo, and banner, Color palette, Brand identity details, including your slogan
- This may take a minute or two. Once complete, Octo shows you the generated assets, including your favicon and visual identity.
- Review the results. If you want changes — for example, updating the slogan — ask Octo directly.
- Once you're satisfied, confirm you're ready to proceed (for example, "good to go").
Octo then fills these values into your brand assets. When it finishes, refresh the page to see the assets populated for the first time. After that, you can reopen the same Octo session to continue with later steps rather than starting a new one.
Step 3: Categorization, Guidelines, and Persona Setup
Based on your brand name and site, BCC suggests a starting set of categories.
- Review the suggested categories and deselect any that don't apply.
- Click Continue to approve your selections.
- If you're using Octo, you can also ask it to suggest additional categories. These are added on top of the categories you've already approved.
- Review and confirm the additional categories, then continue.
BCC provides two default guideline suggestions (for example, no self-promotion, no personal or professional advice).
- Review and approve the default guidelines, or
- Ask Octo to generate more specific guidelines for your brand. Octo-generated guidelines can override the originals once approved.
Octo also extracts basic persona details (dos and don'ts) from your site metadata.
- Edit these manually if needed, or
- Ask Octo to regenerate a more refined version.
Step 4: Classifying Brand and Channels
Set brand type, industry, and traffic range
This step determines your brand's classification:
- Brand type — for example, retail, media, or consumer.
- Industry type — your business/industry classification.
- Traffic range — your expected or current traffic volume.
You can set these manually, or ask Octo to suggest values based on the data collected so far (for example, "help me select brand type, industry type, and traffic range"). Octo will explain each field before suggesting values. Once Octo provides suggestions, review them and select the ones that apply, then continue.
Set up your brand network (optional)
This step lets you add partner or holding brands to your network — useful later for creating tags, sponsorships, or paid partnerships with other brands.
This step isn't mandatory during onboarding. You can skip it and set up network relationships later when you're ready to create paid partnerships.
Add brand social handles
Add the social handles that represent your brand (for example, your Instagram or TikTok handles).
- Enter each handle you want to associate with your brand.
- Add as many handles as needed — these are the accounts videos will be imported from for ads and paid partnership data.
- Click Continue.
Step 5: Technical Configuration and Communication Rules
Configure white label URLs
BCC provides two white label environments:
- Production URL — your live environment.
- QA URL — your test environment, where you can validate content before it goes live.
A default domain is created for you automatically. If you want to customize it, you can add a new version — though this may take longer to process. You can also skip this step and configure it later.
Set communication preferences
Choose how users are notified about brand actions (for example, network proposals):
- SMS
- Push notifications
You can select a service provider for each channel — by default, Genuin is available as the provider for all three. Click Save once you've made your selections.
SDK integration (optional)
This step covers integrating BCC changes into your iOS, Android, or other environments (production and QA). You can skip this step and complete it later.
Step 6: Member Access Control and Completion
Add creators
Decide how creators — the users who record and add videos — are added to your brand:
- Skip this step — Only the brand owner can add creators. No Become a Creator option is shown to other users in the web or mobile app.
- Allow creator requests — Users see a Become a Creator option in your app. They can request access, and once approved, become a creator.
- Add creators directly — Add a user by email, phone number, or Genuin ID, or import a CSV file of multiple users at once.
Once added, creators can add videos to any community or group created under your brand.
Add community members in bulk
This step lets you add a user to every community that already exists under your brand, without adding them to each community individually.
If you haven't created any communities yet, this step has no effect — there's nothing to add the user to. It becomes useful once you've created multiple communities or groups (from the Manage section) and want a single user to have access across all of them.
For example, once you create a community and add a user through this step, that user is automatically added as a member of that community, and will be added to any future community in the same way.
Sign the contract
Request to sign, or sign immediately. Signing generates your revenue share contract.
Finish onboarding
Once the contract step is complete, onboarding is finished. You can now go to Curate and start importing and curating content. Sections will initially be empty until you begin adding data — from there, you can start building out paid partnerships and other brand activity.
